TAKE UP THE CHALLENGE

Jesus taught that all scripture testifies about him so that in him we might have life (John 5v39-40). King David taught that it is only by living according to God's word that we're kept on the right path (Psalm 119v9). What then could be better than reading the entire Bible? (80) 21 March : Proverbs 12v5-6 / Exodus 25-26 / Psalm 21v8-13

BEGIN WITH PRAYER
"Lord open my eyes and my heart."

Read slowly so that you take in. And as you do, turn your heart to God, thanking him for the good you discover and praying his will home for you, your family, your church and the world.

Wisdom to chew on

Understanding to grow in
Having promised to be present with Israel the LORD now gives instructions for the tabernacle (tent) he will inhabit in order to "dwell among them" (25v8). Hebrews 8v5 tells us God's concern over detail is because the tabernacle was "a copy and shadow of what was in heaven." Its exactness reflects his perfection, its precious materials his kingly majesty, and the inner holy of holies his set-apartness from sin. The ark with its atonement cover where God promises to "meet" with Moses and give his commands is a shadow of his heavenly throne where he is surrounded by the spirits of believers after death. Here it is a throne amongst his people on earth. And the cherubim woven into the curtain separating off this inner room picture the angels of heaven gaurding access to God just as the cherubim did when Adam and Eve were exiled from Eden. We also see a table with bread symbolising the table fellowship God has with his people, and a lamp designed with almond flowers that shows the place of God's presence in heaven is an Eden-like paradise. The lampstands in Revelation represent churches (Rev 1v12ff). So they may also represent the people in the presence of God, called to reflect his glory and be set-apart from the darkness of the world. As you read rejoice in what each detail tells you of what you now have access to through Christ.
Exodus 25-26

Finish this reading by pausing to ask yourself:
1) What’s the main thing it teaches me about God or his purposes in Christ? Then praise him for this.
2) What’s the main thing it teaches me about his will for me or the world? Then pray that home.

Devotion to offer up
You could read this aloud and perhaps as a springboard to further prayer.
