TAKE UP THE CHALLENGE

Jesus taught that all scripture testifies about him so that in him we might have life (John 5v39-40). King David taught that it is only by living according to God's word that we're kept on the right path (Psalm 119v9). What then could be better than reading the entire Bible? (427) 4 March : Proverbs 21v10 / Isaiah 2-4 / Psalm 93v1-2

BEGIN WITH PRAYER
"Lord open my eyes and my heart."

Read slowly so that you take in. And as you do, turn your heart to God, thanking him for the good you discover and praying his will home for you, your family, your church and the world.

Wisdom to chew on
Understanding to grow in
The entrance to the kingdom of God is a low one. Only those who stoop in humility can enter. Here God therefore pronounces judgment on the proud and arrogant. But it is bracketed by his promise that one day Zion will be exalted, the nations will come to his people in order to learn the way of the Lord, and those who survive judgment will enjoy the Lord's presence, just as Israel did in the pillar of cloud and fire after the Exodus. This was fulfilled on the day of Pentecost when those from the nations sought God's truth from the apostles, as God manifested his presence by the coming of the Spirit. And it continues to be fulfilled as the nations seek God's truth in the church, which God continues to inhabit by his Spirit. It's an awesome responsibility for the Christian. But as you read note how pride is displayed by Israel.
Isaiah 2-4

Finish this reading by pausing to ask yourself:
1) What’s the main thing it teaches me about God or his purposes in Christ? Then praise him for this.
2) What’s the main thing it teaches me about his will for me or the world? Then pray that home.

Devotion to offer up
You could read this aloud and perhaps as a springboard to further prayer.
