TAKE UP THE CHALLENGE

Jesus taught that all scripture testifies about him so that in him we might have life (John 5v39-40). King David taught that it is only by living according to God's word that we're kept on the right path (Psalm 119v9). What then could be better than reading the entire Bible? (443) 20 March : Proverbs 21v22 / Isaiah 29-30 / Psalm 96v7-8

BEGIN WITH PRAYER
"Lord open my eyes and my heart."

Read slowly so that you take in. And as you do, turn your heart to God, thanking him for the good you discover and praying his will home for you, your family, your church and the world.

Wisdom to chew on
Understanding to grow in
More words of judgment against Jerusalem. The city will be beseiged and brought low, then the LORD will act against its beseigers. But the reason for the attack is that the people's worship is mere lip service. They act in darkness as if the LORD can't see it. Rather than trusting him, they ally themselves with ungodly nations. And rather than listen to his word and repent, they tell his prophets to speak only what is "pleasant." Yet again, we read, that after judgment the LORD will bring the wayward to acknowledge him as holy. he stands ready to act in mercy and blessing. There is much here to challenge us as individuals, as well as the contemporary church as it continues to decline because these very things.. But the encouragement, is that if only God's people will repent, he is ready to restore. As you read note his readiness to show grace.
Isaiah 29-30

Finish this reading by pausing to ask yourself:
1) What’s the main thing it teaches me about God or his purposes in Christ? Then praise him for this.
2) What’s the main thing it teaches me about his will for me or the world? Then pray that home.

Devotion to offer up
You could read this aloud and perhaps as a springboard to further prayer.
